Modification to add Dimmer
Feature
to Engine Run Indicator
|
| This modification makes the engine light level fully
adjustable using the existing control knob on the dash. The
connection necessary is made to the backside of the dash behind the
light level control, so the left side of the lower dash must be
pulled out slightly.
 | Step 1. To access the control, Remove the black screw on the
bottom left side of the dash with a Phillips screwdriver. |
 | Step 2. There are two clips which press into the dash on the
left corner of the lower dash assembly, next to the steering
wheel. Pull the top left corner of the dash and it will release
allowing you access to the back side of the light control.
(Figure 1) |
 | Step 3. Locate the plug on the back of the light adjustment
control, and identify the white w/ blue stripe wire. |
 | Step 4. Remove plug on the solid black wire of the engine run
kit (it is currently attached to the white w/ black striped wire
under the passenger kickplate), separate the wires and bring the
solid black wire over to the driver side floorboard. |
 | Step 5. Bring the wire up through the underside of the dash
and up to the dimmer control. |
 | Step 6. Attach a tap connector to the White w/ Blue
Stripe wire and plug the Black wire from
the engine run into it. (Figure 2.) |
 | Step 7. Press dash back in and reinstall screw in bottom
corner. |
 | Step 8. Dress the wire up under the dash and over to the
center. Then, press it below the trim piece at the bottom center
of the dash and below the glove box. |
