This is a copy of correspondence I received
from Toyota regarding the Cruise Option
Thank you for your interest in the Toyota Prius! |
We are glad to hear that your new Prius car will be
arriving soon! Thank you for choosing the Prius. |
| In response to your e-mail, you may consult your local Prius dealer if they can have the cruise control and GPS installed in your 2001
Prius. In the event that your local Prius dealer cannot install these features, you may ask them for advice as to where you can have this taken care of. Also, since Toyota will not add these two as after-market options, you have the option of contacting an outside vendor to install these for you.
| We hope you find this information useful. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions and/or concerns. |

 | This was at the time that the prototype was being developed and I wanted to find out if Toyota was against the idea of installing a cruise system into the
Prius. Obviously they weren't and left it up to the dealer or an outside vender to develop one.
 | My concerns were whether a cruise system would hurt the car in some way and maybe that was the reason it had not been included with the 2001 models. After this e-mail, thousands of miles of testing with the unit we are offering, and the new Prius models offering it as well, the Prius is fully capable of utilizing a cruise system. |
